Vacation is a term used in English-speaking North America to describe a lengthy time away from work or school, a trip abroad, or simply a pleasure trip away from home, such as a trip to the beach that lasts several days or longer. In the rest of the English-speaking world the word " holiday " is used, whereas in North America, "holiday" normally applies to a specific national holiday or long weekend related to such a day. The word holiday has related but different meanings in English-speaking countries. Based on the words holy and day , holidays originally represented special religious days . This word has evolved in general usage to mean any special day of rest (as opposed to regular days of rest such as the weekend).

 Ontario Fishing Ontario is the most populous and second-largest in area of Canada's ten provinces.Southern Ontario's climate is humid continental (Koppen climate classification Dfa-Dfb), with relatively hot, humid summers and cold winters. It is considered a temperate climate when compared with most of Canada.The northern and western boundaries of Ontario were in dispute after Confederation. Ontario's right to Northwestern Ontario was determined by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in 1884 and confirmed by the Canada (Ontario Boundary) Act, 1889 of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. By 1899, there were seven northern districts: Algoma, Manitoulin, Muskoka, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Rainy River, and Thunder Bay. Four more northern districts were created between 1907 and 1912: Cochrane, Kenora, Sudbury and Timiskaming.Ontario's rivers, including its share of the Niagara River, make it rich in hydroelectric energy.
